Meet Rachel

Giving thanks for YOU

Your love helps Rachel know she is not alone!

“I have a renewed sense of hope…and a brighter future!”

Rachel grew up watching her mother struggle with alcoholism and drug addiction. With that chaos as the backdrop to her homelife, Rachel began using substances herself to cope. “I really looked up to my mom, so I followed in her path,” she recalls.

By the age of 13, Rachel was struggling with addictive behaviors. For years into adulthood, addiction guided Rachel’s choices, leading to trouble with the law and putting her in dangerous situations. “I even lived in a tent,” she shares. “Looking back, I can’t begin to fathom how I made it out of that time period alive.”

One day, Rachel sensed the Lord answering her prayers for help and guiding her to the Mission, where she could take her first step toward change.

“This was a pivotal chapter in my journey toward a better life.”

Rachel was led to the Mission and accepted into our C.A.R.E program, a 13-month journey of healing and faith. “Most important in my recovery has been fellowship with like-minded people,” Rachel says. “Every day, I reflect upon what I learned – when I look to God, doors open.”

Since graduation, Rachel has found full-time employment and is a happy newlywed. She enjoys staying connected to the Mission.

“This place will always hold a special place in my heart. They provided me with essential support, resources and a welcoming community that inspired me to reevaluate my life’s path.”

Thank you for loving neighbors like Rachel “as you’ve loved yourself.” Your kindness has reminded her that she is not alone and that a better life is possible! “I have a renewed sense of hope, and that’s helped me make meaningful changes and embrace a brighter future!”
