Thank you for sharing Christmas blessings with Megan!
“I’m on the right path. I have all the hope in the world.”
Megan had a hole in her soul that only God could fill, but she resisted. “All my life, I’d known that I needed to have a relationship with Him. I just couldn’t surrender my own will.”
Instead, she tried to fill the void with drugs and alcohol. By the time she was 18, she was struggling with addiction. “I wound up on the streets, feeling hopeless,” she says.
When she was in her 20s, Megan completed rehab and turned her life around. She found a good job, bought a car and settled into a nice apartment. “I had pretty much everything that you could want.”
But the hole in her soul remained and, after three years, Megan relapsed. “I was in a very dark place and started giving up on life,” she says.
In the midst of her despair, Megan sensed God reaching out to her, drawing her to Himself. “I argued with Him but, finally, I surrendered.”
The Lord led her to the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission, where her faith grew strong and filled the emptiness inside. “I turned my will over to God and now I lean on Him for everything,” she says.
With her newfound faith, mentorship and life-skills classes, Megan has addressed the root causes of her addiction, found emotional healing and developed healthy coping skills to face whatever life sends her way. “It has changed my life,” she says. “Now, I’m on the right path.”
“I put my whole heart into walking with God.”
Now, Megan plans to go to school to become a juvenile probation officer. “I want to be an example of a godly woman and help adolescent girls avoid making the mistakes I made,” she says.
This Christmas, Megan is experiencing the gifts of peace and hope for a brighter future. Thank you for sharing the blessings of God’s love with her! “The Mission gave me back my life and helped me build a relationship with God. I was hopeless, but now I have all the hope in the world.”
